Beale Street Puppets is GOING TO RUSSIA!!!

Beale Street Puppets has been invited to perform Fairy Caravan as part of the Petrushka World Puppet Carnival in Yekaterinburg, Russia.

This year marks the 30th Anniversary of Beale Street Puppets of Baltimore, MD. In those years, we've performed at hundreds of venues for thousands of children. And as artists, we're proud to say that we've made our way in the world with never a grant or handout. But this trip to Russia is different. It's not a stretch to say that it's the pinnacle for us- a week with other performers, doing shows with our peers from across the globe. As you can imagine, it's difficult for a small company with limited resources to accomplish this.

So we badly, badly want to go. Not only because we were immensely flattered to be asked, of course, but because, in these difficult political times, we firmly believe that it's the arts that make a connection to other countries and cultures. And puppetry, which is primarily viewed by children and families, is a perfect vehicle to let the younger generation know that in essence, we are all alike despite our differences. Cheesy, for sure, but true nonetheless. We are ambassadors- to be sure, on a small scale, but we take it seriously.

Unfortunately, airfare for 2 performers, a technician and the puppets is not an insignificant amount. We have launched a GoFundMe to help with the costs.

Beale Street Puppets returns to the 2018 Maryland Faerie Festival!

Join Beale Street Puppets at the Maryland Faerie Festival in Darlington, MD on June 9th and 10th.  Watch our handcrafted whimsical woodland creatures perform on a unique stage of miniature tree stumps and toadstools.

Many thanks to Barry Gordemer puppet maker extraordinaire! He came by to save our lives and help us make blinking eyes!
